It started with an unexpected discovery, like all the best stories.
I found an old recipe in my grandmother’s handwriting. Folded. Tucked inside one of my mother’s cookery books. A Victoria sponge recipe passed down the generations. That chance find led me to begin baking using that same recipe and the seed of a new career as a modern wedding cake artist began to take root.
Growing up we moved quite a lot, something I have continued, moving around the country, changing jobs. A varied career including driving instructor, croupier, English teacher. Living in various places from Kent to Yorkshire and Devon, twice! I moved away from Devon and immediately knew it was a mistake. So, I finally managed to return – now I’m back home in Devon, making cakes.
